Nunney & District Flower Show and Fete
Download the Nunney Flower Show programme.
Our first voluntary committee was formed 141 years ago (1884) as the Nunney Horticultural Society. Originally held in a large marquee on “Flower Field” opposite Nunney School, the Show and Fête swapped to a few other sites before settling at our trusty Village Hall. Two World Wars and, briefly, Covid interrupted this annual event, but Nunney villagers and locals rallied each time to keep it going.
The Show is not just about flowers, but has always been about a whole variety of home-grown and home-made produce, together with crafts, art, photography and creative writing, encouraging a little bit of friendly competition while also enjoying the fun of our Village Fête activities alongside. Some of our winner’s trophies, such as the Shore Bowl and
Shore Cup, will likely have been awarded back in the 1880’s.
This year we will be opening the doors earlier than usual, at 1pm, to help visitors enjoy our lunch stalls / ice cream van / bar / cafe offering light refreshments with cakes and cream teas / raffle / tombola / face-painting / a variety of games stalls including Splat-the-Rat and the Coconut Shy, together with Maypole dancing and a friendly Tug-of-War competition.
Why not get together a Tug-of-War team with friends, family, work colleagues or neighbours and enter your team by emailing us at: nunneyflowershow@gmail.com. No experience necessary! Separate childrens teams are welcome too, but children cannot compete with adults.
We invite you all to browse all our competitive classes, which remain free to enter and ... who knows, you might go home with a little bit of prize money or even a trophy!
