Subscriber First Name, welcome to our inaugural newsletter.

Last year the Nunney Parish Council conducted a village-wide survey where we learned, amongst other things, that people would like a newsletter keeping them in touch with the many things that happen in our village. So here it is: NunneyVoice.

We aim to have three publications a year. It’s available online through our website and in paper form at the Spar shop and The George.

We’d welcome your feedback.

NUNNEY DUCK RACE & EASTER BONNET PARADE

Easter Sunday at 11am in the Nunney Market Place

Brought to you by the Nunney Community Association (NCA), come join us in the Market Place for our traditional Easter Bonnet Parade and Duck Race on the brook this Easter Sunday.

Bring your family and friends, and your lovely bonnets.

April Services in All Saints Church, Nunney

Warm Space has been running since 2022 over the winter months and growing in popularity. People find a warm welcome in a comfortable space with delicious hot soup, homemade bread, cakes and biscuits. It’s been lovely to see people catch up with friends and meet new people.

Nora recently came for the first time and says: “I had no idea what to expect but I was really impressed! I was surprised to find people I knew there, but there were also people I didn’t know. The food was wonderful, too!”

Richard has been a regular. He says: “You get a very warm welcome at Warm Space. Friendly faces, introduction to others, offer of homemade soups, bread, cakes, along with jolly conversation. Come and see for yourself!”

Warm Space is made possible by financial contributions from Nunney Parish Council, Nunney Community Association and a grant from The National Lottery Fund. Although the event is free to all villagers, many who come are generous with their donations as well, making this event grow from strength to strength.

Organiser Councillor Sally Foster says: “I’m grateful to have a wonderful team of volunteers without whom Warm Space would not happen. They give their time, make delicious soup, cakes and biscuits. We all have a lot of fun together. There’s always room for more!”

We begin again in October so look out for the posters.

PLAY AREA OPENING

On 10th April we held the ceremonial opening of the refurbished play area in The Russell Field.

The Nunney Village Hall is a thriving local village hall that serves the local community. It also hires out this key village asset to a range of regular and ad hoc users, from pilates and dance to children's parties to petanque and film screenings.

The hall often operates as a focal point for large community events such as the VE Day celebrations and the annual Nunney Fayre.

NUNNEY WATCH

Nunney is now part of Neighbourhood Watch

We are a community group that aims to promote sustainability within Nunney.

Our focus at the moment is the Nunney environment. We recently delivered a annual village litter pick which involved 35 residents giving up their Saturday morning to help clean up the village before the spring nettles arrive.

This event has inspired parents to set up a regular monthly litter pick with their children. We have plenty of plans for the future and will keep you updated. You can find us on Facebook.

LITTLE SAPLINGS

A stay and play session in Nunney Village Hall, hosted by All Saints Church, for carers (parents, grandparents and childminders) of pre-school children.

Weekly during school term.

Refreshments provided.

Donations are welcome (£3 is a typical amount per session, per family).

VE DAY CELEBRATION

We are marking the 80th Anniversary of VE Day by holding a Tea Party in the Village Hall on Sunday May 11th from 2-5pm.

Exhibitions of Nunney life during the War, what people did and how they lived here, photos, memories of home and army, rationing, music, entertainment of all kinds and games for children. Free for all the Village. And cake! Bring a picnic if the weather is good. Come and enjoy good company and a host of memories.

Zen & Sensory Community Garden

We welcome a new Zen & Sensory Garden planned for the Old Quarry Gardens coming this summer. Workshops for children and fitness bootcamps for adults will run throughout August.
